Shropshire hospice ward gets revamp

Local firm SJ Roberts Construction has successfully completed a £130,000 refurbishment on the original ward at Severn Hospice built over 20 years ago.

Funding from the Department of Health grant has allowed for an upgrade of accommodation at The Perry Ward over two phases, the first phase converting two four bed roomed wards into single rooms with ensuite bathrooms and in the second, the refurbishment of all four single rooms with two new additional bathrooms.

Paul Cronin Chief Executive at Severn Hospice said:

"Perry Ward is much loved and has provided an excellent environment for  patients and their families to receive care and treatment but after 20 years the ward was in need of a facelift and we are delighted the project was completed to such a high standard."

Paul adds:

"We look forward to undertaking additional refurbishment projects when funding becomes available."

Mike Sambrook Managing Director at SJ Roberts Construction said:

"We were delighted to have completed the work on time and on budget.  We had to take into account the sensitive nature of the environment and worked very closely with the hospice to minimize disruption."
