Shropshire building contractor celebrates prestigious awards shortlisting

Shropshire-based SJ Roberts Construction Ltd has been shortlisted in two categories of the prestigious and highly competitive Insider Midlands Residential Property Awards. The accolade comes three years after its Allscott Meads development claimed the coveted ‘Placemaking Project of the Year’ award.

In the 2026 awards, the team has been shortlisted in the ‘social housing’ category for its work delivering housing schemes for a wide range of social landlords including Connexus, Housing Plus, and Shropshire Rural Housing, as well as in the ‘housebuilder of the year’ category.

The awards showcase the best residential projects and developers from across the Midlands and provide a fantastic showcase for the wide range of residential projects taking place across the region.

Commenting on the shortlist announcement, Mike Sambrook at SJ Roberts Construction, said:

“The work that we deliver in partnership with a wide range of social housing providers is a point of great pride for the whole SJ Roberts team, especially as all of these homes are constructed using the timber frames manufactured by our sister company, Lowfield Timber Frames.

“These aren’t just houses, but much-needed homes in areas that thrive on community. Being recognised in this way is, therefore, something that we’re delighted about.

“Our work at Allscott Meads was recognised in these same awards three years ago, so as this ground-breaking placemaking project nears its completion, it’s fitting that we’ve again been recognised as one of the region’s leading housebuilders. We’re all very excited for the awards ceremony in June.”

The winners will be unveiled during a gala dinner on 18th June at Edgbaston Stadium, Birmingham.
